Twelve members met at the Brass Pointe Restaurant in Farmington Hills on Wednesday, July 14th. Following a casual dinner and conversations, President Teresa Klotz started the meeting off with the recognition of two new members in attendance. They were Michael Daquano, Al Jacobson and Stephen Talbot.
The focus of the meeting was an open discussion of any restoration or maintenance projects that could be of interest to members. We first heard about the five-year restoration process on Al’s E-Type, and the issue regarding his replacement windshield sourced from England. He shared his experiences with body, paint and interior work. The cars’ engine is going in soon, so we could perhaps see his red E-Type some day soon.
We also discussed the replacement process of an XK radio, throttle body and convertible top hydraulic lines and the sources for the discounted parts. Questions and discussion also occurred on various other topics including paint-less dent repair, stone chip repair and touch up paint matching. Recommendations were also given for service providers. Other topics included various ceramic coating products and their application, and curb rash rim repair and refinishing that can be done at your location and also while on the rim is on your car.
The meeting broke up about 8:30 PM. The format was both informative and useful and was helpful to those in attendance. We should do this more frequently and incorporate the information into our Service Directory to share these experiences with our membership.
