What: Tour of the Packard Proving Grounds
Where: 49965 Van Dyke Ave., Shelby Township
When: Saturday, June 6th at 10:30 AM
Cost: $5 per person
Note: Social distancing and face masks will be required. The Farmer's Market will also be open during our visit. There will be no lunch following this event.
Parking: We will enter the south gate, and park inside away from the Farmer's Market. Once inside the gate, park in the grassy area between the boulevards in front of the main building.
Following our docent-led tour, we will have a picnic using the tables on their campus. Jimmy John's sandwiches, chips, cookies, and bottled water will be available. The cost is $7 per person. Correct denominations would be appreciated.
This lovely 17-acre site is on the National Registry of Historic Places and features rustic, vintage circa 1928 buildings designed by Albert Kahn for the Packard Motor Car Company. The Packard Proving Grounds Historic Site is owned by the Packard Motor Car Foundation, a 501c3 entity, and the revenue from the events held onsite helps fund the restoration and maintenance of the site.
