2019 Summer Drive to Northern Indiana

This is a 3 or 4 day drive into Northern Indiana (see details below).

On Friday, June 14th, at 9:00 AM we will form a caravan starting from the McDonald’s in Whitmore Lake, MI, or you can meet us for lunch at 12:30 PM at JT’s in Coldwater, MI, or just drive directly to the Farmstead Inn in Shipshewana, IN.

On Friday evening at 5:00 PM we will experience a thrasher dinner in an Amish farmhouse ($40per person, cash only).

On Saturday, we will drive to South Bend and tour the Studebaker National Museum ($10 - $15 per person, based on the group size). Lunch will follow at the Tippecanoe Place Restaurant (formerly the Studebaker Mansion). That evening we have dinner/theatre tickets for a performance entitled “Hotel California - A Salute to the Eagles” taking us back to 1976 ($62.95 per person).

On Sunday morning, you can either head home or join us for a 120-mile drive to the Indiana National Dunes Park, located at the bottom of Lake Michigan. This is the newest US National Park. We will have lunch at Wagner’s Ribs and then head to the Visitor Center. We will view two short videos to give us an introduction to the Park. We have planned two drives within the Park, one on the “Dunes & Lake” route (19.7 miles), and the other on the “Downtown & Country Roads” route (27.9 miles). We may make some stops along the way.

Dinner will be at the Craft House restaurant.

We will stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, in Chesterton, IN ($99 per person plus tax).

On Monday, June 17, 2019, head home independently.

• The days you will be participating, Friday - Sunday, or Friday - Monday

Please mail payment for the dinner/theatre tickets to Phil Crutchfield, 23556 Millwood, South Lyon, MI 48178-1944, no later than April 27, 2019. The tickets are $62.95 per person, which includes the Saturday evening dinner and the performance with seating in the “blue” section (closer to the stage).

Please call the Farmstead Inn directly at 260.768.4595, by 5/01/2019, to make your reservation for June 14th and 15th. Mention that you are part of JAGM for the discounted rate of $249.76 for two nights, including breakfast and taxes. We have a block of 15 rooms on hold.

Please call the Hilton Garden Inn directly at 219.983.9500, by 5/01/2019, to make your reservation for June 16th. Mention that you are part of the Jag Club for the discounted rate of $99 per night, breakfast included, plus taxes. We have a block of 10 rooms on hold.
