With eyes on the skies and weather forecasters foreseeing a 90 percent chance of rain on Sunday, July 11th, the faithful contemplated their journey to Hickory Corners for the annual Mad Dogs British car show. By Sunday morning the forecasters had reduced the chances of rain into the mid-twenty percent level. The skies were overcast and something more like a mist was on and off during the day. One could spot some umbrellas in the crowd occasionally. And a few drop-top cars kept their tops up, but most were down and stayed down. No one appeared wet and the crowd was actively viewing the cars on display. Hot dogs and soft drinks at the outdoor dining area at the Diner was popular as people took a break from car viewing.
At 3:30 PM the participant-based judging results were announced. JAGM members Howard and Lori Richards received third place in tough competition in the Class O (Jaguar 4-door 1998 to present) for their 2007 XJ8. This is the second award they have received at Mad Dogs for that car. And our newest members, Stephen and Karen Talbot, received third-place in Class K (Jaguar 2-door 1976 to present) for their 2021 F-Type R. And Lee Jacobson received the “People’s Choice” award for his 1939 MG.
Who knows, maybe next year we will get the return of the sunny 90-plus temperature and humidity sweat-box conditions.
